The Strength in Gentleness
Card of the Day: Strength (Reversed)
At first glance, it is easy to misplace the strength in this card. After all, it depicts a lion—the epitome of power, the apex predator.
But it is not the lion’s strength that this card is about—it is the strength of the figure beside it.
The card invites us to explore what allows this person to be in such close, graceful proximity to the lion. Perhaps handler is not quite the right word. Handler conjures an image of someone brash, determined to dominate through force or fear. That is not who we see here.
This figure embodies grace, harmony, and tenderness. She is a nurturer. There is respect and appreciation for the lion’s power, a sense of alignment rather than conflict. In this framework, she can approach the lion and hold its muzzle gently in her hands.
Strength here is not about overpowering. It is about the courage to meet something formidable with calm presence. The strength to approach what we fear with tenderness rather than force. And the wisdom to know where the boundaries are—and honor them.
In reverse, this card invites us to reflect on the source of our own strength.
To what do I attribute my strength? When I call upon it, am I summoning my capacity to force—or my capacity to guide alignment? Do I lean on brawn or grace?
Is there an opportunity to draw strength from being a nurturer? A nurturer of people. A nurturer of circumstance. Can I derive power from seeing and accepting others as they are? Can I foster trust and respect—the true currency of alignment and shared strength?
How can I apply this today?
I will notice where I rely on force rather than presence.
I will ask how grace might guide me to the same outcome, or a better one.
I will honor the strength in gentleness.
I will remember that true influence begins with respect.
I welcome all parts of myself—known and unknown, shining and shadowed.
I honor my past for what it has taught me.
I trust my intuition to lead me.
I release what no longer serves me.
I walk forward with steadiness, guided by the light within me.
Be well, be present, be at peace.
